PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processed image inconspicuous in noise by suppressing the emphasis degree of an area having a comparatively low density in the case of applying emphasizing processing to the image of a desired frequency band among the images of plural frequency bands obtained by transforming the image into a multiplex resolution space. SOLUTION: In a resolution demultiplexing processing means 2, an image signal S inputted from an image input means 1 is decomposed into multiplex resolution images by the method such as Laplacian pyramid. The emphasis degree in the desired frequency band of the decomposed image is decided by an emphasis degree calculating means 6 so that the density of the lowest frequency band in the area more correspondent to the area of a comparatively low density can be more reduced rather than the other area. Based on this emphasis degree, an emphasizing processing means 2 applies emphasizing processing to the image. The emphasizing processed image and the other image are restored in a restoring processing means 4 and a processed image signal S' is obtained. The processed image signal S' is reproduced as a visible image in an image output means 5. |
