PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high speed and high resolution light beam scanning optical system. SOLUTION: This light beam scanning optical system consists of a first light source 1a, a second light source 1b, a first forming lens 2a which forms an optical beam into a prescribed beam shape, a second forming lens 2b, a polygon mirror section 3a which deflects the light beam, an fθlens 4 which makes the deflected light beam to move with a constant speed on the surface to be scanned and to form an image, an adjustment optical system which aligns the plural light beams deflected from the section 3a to the incident direction of a same scanning surface of the lens 4 and adjusts an optical path length and a synchronization detector 5 which detects the synchronization of plural light beams being scanned. The section 3a is constituted by overlapping N polygon mirrors 3 each of which has M mirror surfaces and is successively shifted for the amount of 2π/(M.N) radians in the rotational direction of the section 3a. |
