The pick-up wheel is free-running and can be drawn by a drive string along guide strips. The guide strips are so located on the right side of the document location that the pick-up wheel is pressed onto the document. The rotary and curve movement necessary for raising and turning over a sheet of a document is produced by a simple forwards and backwards movement of the slide (3) over the guide strips (2). A hold-down device is provided which prevents the sheet of the document turning backwards. The slide has the basic form of an upright T, inserted through the two guide strips, and carries a freely rotating driving pick-up wheel (4).
