Method and apparatus for ultrasonic imaging of an object, with interference-free receive signal transmission

A predetermined number of transmit-receive cycles are carried out. In the transmission phase, ultrasound waves are directed towards the object under investigation. Each converter, in an array of ultrasound converters, reads out a transmission time from a memory and is controlled by a transmission pulse. Ultrasound waves reflected from the object are converted into electrical reception signals which are used to form an image of the object. The transmission data for a transmission mode of a pulse-echo driven ultrasound array are transmitted during the previous transmission mode and stored. They are not transmitted during the previous reception mode.
