PURPOSE:To attain objective evaluation more matching with subjective evaluation by resolving a many-valued half tone picture into a band passing picture having a different space frequency, enumerating the error of an inter-picture for the every band passing picture having the same space frequency, multiplying the error by a specified weight and calculating the sum. CONSTITUTION:It is considered that the picture quality of a many-valued half tone picture is related to the space frequency property of vision, a band passing picture preparing means 1 resolves the picture into a band passing picture having a different space frequency, an error calculating means 2 enumerates the error for the every band passing picture of the same space frequency, and a linear sum calculating means 3 enumerates the sum with the weight of the obtained error and outputs it as a picture quality evaluating value. Thus, the evaluating value of a scale coincident with subjective evaluation can be obtained. |
