PURPOSE:To separately secure the engine-starting capability of a lead storage battery by having two battery blocks of the same size that respectively generate given voltages arranged in parallel to each other, and constructing the batteries in such a manner that either of a negative terminal or a positive anodic terminal, and either one-side wall plane of mutual battery-jar side walls of the blocks are possessed in common to both batteries. CONSTITUTION:A battery block generating a given voltage is divided into two blocks generating given voltages respectively so as to be functionally divided into an engine-starting block and an electric equipment excitation power backup block, and at this time the one block having its current collector of heavy weight is used for a battery A while another block having its current collector of light weight is used for a battery B in order that the internal resistance of the one battery as the engine-starting block (battery A) may be smaller than that of the other battery as the electric equipment excitation power backup block (battery B). Then the battery A and the battery B are respectively controlled by an electric circuit, and only the block A is used when an engine is started and operated, and after the engine is started the block A is only charged with electricity while the battery B is used to maintain rotation of the engine after it is started, and also to provide power for working electric equipment. The electrically charged condition of the engine-starting battery is thus kept always at 100 percent, so that the engine can be restarted even if it is stopped. |
