Date Mar. 31, 1994In the control of the rolled product thickness in a roll stand, to suppress the influence of roll eccentricities, it is known to provide a dead zone which is insensitive to signal fluctuations caused by the roll eccentricities and to vary the zone width of the dead zone as a function of the magnitude of the signal fluctuations. In so doing, in order to increase the accuracy, the variation of the zone width (b) is carried out as a function of a continuous statistical evaluation of the signal fluctuations, the standard deviation ( sigma ) thereof preferably being determined.
