PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly fluidize an immobilized carrier without depositing it in a nitrification tank, and also to prevent an outflow of the carrier and clogging of a means for separating the immobilized carrier. SOLUTION: The inside of the nitrification tank is partitioned into a carrier fluidizing zone 5 and a treated water outflow zone 6 with an interdigital shaped carrier separation means 4 and a circulation flow is formed in the carrier fluidizing zone 5 by diffusing aeration air from the diffuser 8 and generating an upward flow, and biologically treated water treated in the carrier fluidizing zone 5 is introduced into the treated water outflow zone 6 through the carrier separation means 4.
