PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the stable motion of a vehicle by mounting road holding control means for reducing the damping force and spring constant of wheels whose braking forces are controlled as compared with those in the case of usual running and by changing the characteristics of suspensions into such characteristics that a road holding load is hard to change when braking force is controlled to stabilize the behavior of the vehicle. SOLUTION: In a vehicle whose wheels have shock absorbers 12FL to 12RR of changeable damping force, output signals from wheel speed sensors 30FL to 30RR, a steering angle sensor 34, a transverse G sensor 36 and a yaw rate sensor 38 are input into ECU10 to estimate the motion of the vehicle when it is running. The degrees of spin and drift are used as a standards for judgement. When the vehicle is judged as being in a drift-out state by the estimated behavior, suitable hydraulic pressure is supplied to the wheel cylinders of rear wheels RL, RR. When the vehicle is judged as being in a spin state by the estimated behavior, suitable hydraulic pressure is supplied to the wheel cylinders of outside front wheels FL, FR for swiveling, thereby stabilizing the motion of the vehicle. |
