PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new protein, capable of raising the expression with nervous damage, containing a consensus sequence, useful for elucidating the mechanism of nervous regeneration and effective in treatment of neuropathy and improvement, etc., in activities of various body organs. SOLUTION: This new protein is capable of raising the expression with nervous damage and contains a consensus sequence of a 5'-nucleotidase comprising an amino acid sequence from Met at the 219th position to Ser at the 229th position of the amino acid sequence of the formula or a sequence similar thereto. The protein is deeply concerned in functional restoration of neurons, useful for elucidating the mechanism of nervous regeneration and effective in treatment of neuropathy, improvement, etc., in activities of various body organs. This protein is obtained by anesthetizing a rat, cutting the facial nerve on the left side at a stylomastoid foraminal level of collecting a facial nervous nucleus from the brain of the rat after 7 days, separating an mRNA according to a conventional method, preparing a cDNA library by using the mRNA, searching for the resultant clone with a probe and expressing the prepared cDNA. |
