PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a basic prepared unshaped refractory excellent in slaking resistance, corrosion resistance and spalling resistance. SOLUTION: The basic prepared unshaped refractory is obtained by blending a refractory aggregate and a binder. The refractory aggregate consists essentially of a calcia-magnesia clinker, which has a chemical composition of >=96wt.% MgO+CaO, 8-29wt.% CaO and 0.5-3wt.% TiO2 basing on ignition residue and has the surface composed of magnesium oxide or magnesium oxide and a water soluble salt. The basic prepared unshaped refractory is capable of exhibiting sufficiently the effects of slag permeation resistance and spalling resistance, which characterize calcia-magnesia base, with clean steel making and slag fluxing resistance, which characterize basic base, by solving the slaking problem in calcia-magnesia base. |
