<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the purifying efficiency of a fibrous activated carbon adsorption element by concentrically combining a plurality of the hollow cylindrical elements of fibrous activated carbon and each having a different diameter with a clearance in-between. SOLUTION: A cloth or felt-like fibrous activated carbon is laminated around an air-permeable core material to form hollow cylindrical adsorption elements having a different diameter and with one end opened and the other closed, and the elements are concentrically combined with a clearance between the elements to obtain the fibrous activated carbon element. A flange is attached to one end of the element, the elements are put on each other with a gaskset in-between, bolted up and concentrically set, and the assembly is fixed to the supporting plate of an adsorber and used. Namely, the two inner and outer layers of the elements 3 and 4 are supported by a supporting plate 2 and set in an adsorber, the air contg. methylene chloride, for example, is supplied to the adsorber to cause adsorption, steam is supplied to cause desorption, the process is repeated, thus the waste gas is treated.</p> |
