REMOVAL OF MERCURY IN LIQUID HYDROCARBON

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a trace of mercury in a liquid hydrocarbon by bringing a carbon material into contact with an activated carbon whose carbonaceous raw material is activated in a specific atmosphere. SOLUTION: This method for removing mercury in a liquid hydrocarbon uses an activated carbon whose carbonaceous raw material is activated in an atmosphere with a steam content of not more than 15vol.%. Or, it uses an activated carbon whose carbonaceous raw material is activated in an atmosphere with a steam content of not more than 15vol.% and which is made to support an alkali metal sulfide and/or an alkali earth metal sulfide.
