PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rigid polyurethane foam which is produced from a low- viscosity foaming mixture excellent in miscibility and has an excellent dimensional stability even when a hydrohalocarbon or water is used as the blowing agent. SOLUTION: In a process for producing a rigid polyurethane foam by reacting a polyol component with a polyisocyanate component in the presence of a blowing agent, the polyol component used contains at least 5wt.% compd. which is formed by substituting sulfhydryl groups for a part of hydroxyl groups of an alkylene oxide adduct of a compd. having at least two active hydrogen atoms.
