PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To install electrical equipment of an outboard motor equipped with an exhaust emission controlling catalyst simply and inexpensively. SOLUTION: This outboard motor is provided with a V-type engine 6 set up on top of an engine holder, a drive shaft housing set up in a lower part of this engine holder, an exhaust passage extending in the water from the engine 6 by way of the drive shaft housing, and both first and second exhaust expansion chambers 35 installed in each point midway in this exhaust passage, respectively. In this constitution, this second exhaust expansion chamber 35 set up at the downstream side of the exhaust passage is set up on an upper part of the engine holder and in the rear of the engine 6 respectively, while this second exhaust expansion chamber 35 is made up of materials including an aluminum material or the like being high in heat radiability and having conductivity. A cooling water jacket 48 is formed in the circumference, while those of electrical equipment such as an ignition coil 49 and a CDI unit, a regulator or the like are attached to the second exhaust expansion chamber 35. |
