PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitor power save circuit and a monitoring device remarkably reducing power consumption at the time of a power saving and contriving lower power consumption. SOLUTION: In a monitor power save circuit 1 starting/stopping the main power source circuit 2 based on a synchronizing pulse inputted from the outside, a control circuit 3 stopping the main power source circuit 2 after prescribed time passes after the input of the synchronizing pulse is stopped and a start circuit 4 detecting the input of the synchronizing pulse and starting the main power source circuit 2. The start circuit 4 has a light emitting element 4a emitting light by the input of the synchronizing pulse and an optical switch 4b receiving light emitted from the light emitting element 5 and supplying power to the main power source circuit 2.
