PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a method of manufacturing a torque converter, decrease the number of part items, and reduce a cost of manufacture, by making a pump impeller drivable, and arranging a torsional vibration damper between input/ output parts of the torque converter. SOLUTION: Casings 2, 3 of a torque converter receive a pump impeller 11 and a turbine wheel 12, as circumstances require, a guide wheel 13. A converter lockup clutch 15 comprises a piston 16, this piston 16 is provided with a friction lining 18 of the converter lockup clutch 15 in a range 17 of radial direction outside and a torsional vibration damper 20 in a range of the radial direction inside. In the torsional vibration damper 20, the piston 16 of the lockup clutch, in the range of radial direction inside, is loaded toward a turbine wheel boss 12b by press attaching force of an accumulator, for instance, belleville spring 21. |
