<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain an inexpensive and compact parking area management system capable of removing user's burden by detecting a troubling parked vehicle obstructing other vehicles in the use of a parking area. SOLUTION: The number plate of a vehicle entering/leaving into/from a parking area is detected by a video camera 1 arranged on the entrance of the parking area, its number plate information is read out by picture processing, time information indicating entering time or leaving time is added to the number plate information, and the time-added information is stored in a prescribed storage area. The parking time of an already left vehicle is found out from a difference between the entering time and leaving time of the vehicle having the same number plate information and the parking time of a vehicle being parked at present is found out from a difference between its entering time and current time. The found parking time of each vehicle is compared with previously set proper parking time width and a vehicle (supposed as a troubling parked vehicle) having parking time deviated from the proper parking time width is detected.</p> |
