PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black matrix for a color filter having practically sufficient light-shielding property, heat resistance, chemical resistance, moisture resistance and adhesion property and having sufficiently low impurities and volatile component by an inexpensive resist method. SOLUTION: This black matrix for the color filter has a gray level of the transmitted light of >=2.8 for thickness of <=1.0μm. The black matrix has the following properties. When the black matrix is heat-treated at 230 deg.C for 1 hour, the reduction rate of the gray level of the transmitted light is <=5%. When the matrix is dipped into N-methylpyrolidone at 250 deg.C for 5min, the reduction rate of the gray level of the transmitted light is <=5%. When the black matrix is subjected to pressure cooker test at 100 deg.C under 3atoms and 100% relative humidity condition for 3 hours and then the adhesion state is evaluated by the cross-cut testing method and/or X-cut testing method according to JIS-K5400, the evaluation point is >=8 points. Or, when the black matrix is measured by thermal gas chromatography to 230 deg.C, the volatile component detected is <=0.1%. |
