PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To amplify respective signal light while effectively suppressing the cross talk of the signal light inputted from both directions in a light amplifier provided with a single amplifying optical fiber and directly amplifying the respective carrier wave modulated signal light inputted from both directions to the amplifying optical fiber by the induced emission effect. SOLUTION: When the frequency of the carrier wave intensity-modulating the signal light is defined as (f), and a wavelength when one side signal light is intensity-modulated at the frequency (f) in the amplifying optical fiberλ, the substantial length L0 required for suppressing the cross talk of the amplifying optical fiber is set in so as to become L0 =n.λ/2 ((n) is a positive integer), where,λ=c'/f (c' is the velocity of the signal light in the amplifying optical fiber).
