PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in image quality by providing a means using the coder that codes data representing position information of a component moving image sequence to reduce a data quantity after coding. SOLUTION: In the coder, 1st and 2nd moving image coding sections 1, 2 code 1st and 2nd moving image sequences respectively. Furthermore, area information is coded by an area information coding section 3. Coded data are integrated by a coding data integral section for transmission or storage. On the other hand, the decoder separates the sent or stored coded data and the separated data are decoded by 1st and 2nd moving image decoding sections 5, 6 and an area information decoding section 7. Then an alpha plane generating section 10 generates an alpha plane from decoded area information. The alpha plane is used and the two sequences are synthesized by arithmetic means at 1st and 2nd weighting sections 8, 9 and an adder 11. Thus, the coder codes data representing position information of the component moving image sequence. |
