The invention concerns a device for propelling light craft with muscular energy, i.e. with the arms and legs, and by a standard rowing motion by means of two oars with blades turned towards the centre of the craft. The device includes two symmetrical assemblies comprising a lever (2), a cross beam (1) and an oar (3) connected to each other by a hinged yoke (5) and a pivoting shaft (6). The user presses down on and pushes the lever so that the oar (3) is lifted out of the water and is moved forward, whereafter the user releases the pressure by pulling the lever towards him or herself, so that the oar (3), and hence the blade (8) is plunged into the water, propelling the float (4). The cross beam (1) has a stabiliser float (17). The hinge (7) and the locking means (13) allow the cross-beam to be folded back, with the propelling system, alongside the float (4).
