<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the quantity of data obtained by coding. SOLUTION: An expansion circuit 112 generates an expanded binary image resulting from a binary image obtained by converting points around a characteristic point into the characteristic point among binary images consisting of the characteristic point of the image and other points than the characteristic point, and a change point detection circuit 114 detects change points of the expanded binary image. Furthermore, a proximity degree calculation circuit 115 calculates proximity degree denoting a degree of proximity of the points forming the image to change points, and a selector 116 selects only the image characteristic point whose proximity degree is a prescribed threshold level or over. Then only information relating to the characteristic point of the selected image is subjected to chain coding.</p> |
