PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To send voice data and texts data or the like for contact use between users together with voice and video data via an ATM communication channel or the like. SOLUTION: The user for a data transmitter of one side enters contact use character data or the like to a personal computer 156. The inputted character data are multiplexed into a prescribed transmission packet together with sound and video data outputted from a VTR 140 and the multiplexed packets are sent to other data transmitter via an ATM communication channel 2. The other data transmitter separates character data from the received packets and the character data are displayed on a monitor 160 of the personal computer 156. The users of both the data transmitters send/receive character data or the like mutually for an arrangement contact or the like.
