PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery which excels in a cycle characteristic in charge and discharge with large capacity by using tin addition nickel acid lithium in which a peak is specified in an X-ray diffraction pattern by CuK α rays for a positive electrode active material. SOLUTION: In a lithium secondary battery, for a positive electrode active material, tin addition nickel acid lithium is used which has a peak in the vicinity of 2θ=34.4 deg. and does not have a peak in the vicinity of 2θ=22.5 deg. in an X-ray diffraction pattern by CuK α rays or in which an intensity ratio of the peak in the vicinity of 2θ= 22.5 deg. to the peak in the vicinity of 2θ=34.4 deg. is not more than 1.2. The tin addition nickel acid lithium is obtained by mixing and baking a lithium compound, a nickel compound and tin or a tin compound. It is preferable that tin acid lithium is used for the tin compound. |
