PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size with the mechanical strength being secured by providing a device with an insulating case which is so fastened to an aluminum material as to cover a group of semiconductor elements and which holds terminals for electrically connecting the group of semiconductor elements and outside. SOLUTION: A device has a flat composite material 11 of an excellent thermal conductivity which is made by impregnating ceramic with aluminum. On an upper face of the composite material 11, an insulating substrate 12b and an aluminum material 13 are joined by aluminum brazing. An insulating case 15 and a current sensor 3 are bonded to the aluminum material 13. The insulating case 1 has an input terminal 18a for electrically connecting semiconductor elements 2c, 2d and a smoothing capacitor 1 and an output terminal 19b for electrically connecting the semiconductor elements 2c, 2d and an electric sensor 3. Since the input terminal 18a and the output terminal 19b are insert-molded as inserts in the insulating case 15, the insulating case 15 can mechanically protect the semiconductor elements 2c, 2d. As a result, a power controller which is relatively small in size but has an excellent mechanical strength can be obtained. |
