PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheath core type compound fiber as a filter material component fiber and diffuse an antibacterial agent with a silver complex carried on a silica carrier only in a composite fiber sheath or in the sheath more than in the core. SOLUTION: An antibacterial agent which is high in safety and excellent in the durability of antibacterial effect and difficult to discolor and relatively larger-sized in particle diameter, is mixed only in a sheath 1 or more in the sheath 1 than the core. Therefore, a core 2 which is not mixed with the antibacterial agent or having a small mixing amount thereof maintains fiber strength to a satisfactory extent, and exerts sterilization action more efficiently from the sheath 1 to the outside.
