PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the wear and scuffing resistances of a photoreceptor by incorporating a specified resin binder and specified inorg. particles into the photosensitive layer of the photoreceptor as the top layer. SOLUTION: The top layer of this photoreceptor is a photosensitive layer and a resin binder having a coefft. of kinematic friction of <=1 and inorg. particles having a Mohs hardness of >=5 are contain in the photosensitive layer. The vol. average particle diameter of the inorg. particles is 0.05-1.0μm and the inorg. particles are silica particles having 0-20J/g variationΔH in heat absorption energy by differential thermal analysis at 40-200 deg.C in the case where the water content is adjusted in an environment at 80% relative humidity. A silica sol or colloidal silica synthesized by a sol-gel method in a liq. phase or superfine silica particles obtd. in a vapor phase are preferably used as the silica particles. The silica particles are preferably added by 0.1-100wt.%, especially 1-50wt.% of the amt. of a thermosetting resin.
