<p>The composite material is made from a series of flexible and curved leaves (10) joined together by layers of a synthetic resin material (2) and of a fibrous material (3). In a variant an additional layer of a cellular material can be incorporated between sets of leaves, and the whole can be enclosed in an envelope (4) of a fourth material with a fibrous structure. The set of leaves enclosed in the envelope has a width which is greater than its height, and the layers of synthetic resin and fibrous material between the leaves can be of variable thickness, depending on the curvature of the leaves. The initial leaves can be of wood, and the synthetic resin and resin-impregnated fibrous layers are polymerised in sequence as they are assembled.</p> |
