PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently cool a heating element related to a scanning optical device performing for deflecting scanning with a laser beam by forming an air duct on the outer periphery of the housing of the scanning optical device and arranging the heating element in the air duct. SOLUTION: Air sucking fans 4-1 and 4-2 are arranged between the outer periphery of the housing 100 of the scanning optical device 101 and the front side plate 2 and the rear side plate 3 of an image forming device body 1 so that they may be respectively close to the front side plate 2 and the rear side plate 3 on the right side of the body 1, whereby cool air at the outer part of the body 1 is sucked. The sucked cool air flows along the air ducts 5 and 6 formed between the housing 100 and the front side plate 2, and the housing 100 and the rear side plate 3 and is discharged by ventilating fans 4-3 and 4-4. Laser drivers 121a to 121d and a polygon motor driver 101c as the heating elements are arranged in the air ducts 5 and 6. Then, the housing 100 functions also as a heat insulating board for a polygon motor 101b, and the polygon motor 101b is completely cooled. |
