PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plug connector and receptacle connector which can be embodied without remarkable size enlargement of the receptacle connector, in particular size enlargement in the axial direction which might substantially influence the occupation area for installation and which does not bring about increase in the equipment costs for dies, etc., even in case the connector concerned is of multi-core type in round shape, can be fitted in any direction, and must receive a large number of conductors. SOLUTION: A plug insulator 4 has a supporting part at the periphery in rotary symmetry, and a plug connector 1 is formed in a structure where a plurality of plug contacts 10 are supported in the state that the contacting parts are positioned at different distances from the tip of the plug insulator 4. A receptacle insulator is furnished with a fit hole 19 to admit insertion of the plug connector 1, and a receptacle connector 2 is formed in a structure where receptacle contacts 18 are installed in such a state that the contacting parts 24 confront the inside surface of the fit hole 19 and correspond to the arrangement of the contacting parts of the plug contacts of the connector 1.
