Prodn. of cpds. of formula R1R2R3R4R5Ar (I), in which R1-R5 = H, halogen, 1-6C alkyl or alkoxy, OR, NHR, NR2, SR or COOR; R = 1-4C alkyl; Ar = 6-12C aryl; comprises reacting a cpd. of formula R1'R2'R3'R4'R5'Ar-COOH (II), in which R1'-R5' = H, halogen, 1-6C alkyl or alkoxy, OH, NH2, NHR, SH or COOH; with a sulphate of formula (RO)2SO2 (III) in presence of a water-insol. tert. amine (IV) and water at 10-120[deg]C in presence or absence of a water-insol. solvent and with addn. of a base at pH 5-12.
