An appendent structure support member (25) for supporting an appendent structure such as a pergola (27) from a roofing structure (10) includes a first attachment portion (30), a second attachment portion (38) and a connecting means (34, 36). The first attachment portion (30) is adapted to be attached to a roofing beam such as a rafter (12). The second attachment portion (38) may be in the form of a bracket for supporting the pergola structure (27). The connecting means preferably is in two parts (34, 36) and as such is adapted to extend through the roof cladding (16). A support structure and a method of supporting an appendent structure is also claimed.
