PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely discharge residual charge on the surface of the transfer body by impressing a voltage which is the same in polarity and higher in voltage in comparison with a voltage impressed on the conductive layer of a transfer body on a discharging brush. SOLUTION: After a transfer paper is peeled from a transfer drum 11 by a peeling pawl 14 when a transfer operation is ended, a roller type conductive brush (discharging brush) 40 is moved so as to come into contact with the transfer drum 11, and a discharging operation is executed. When the discharging operation starts, the charge remaining on the surface of the transfer drum 11 runs away to the ground through the brush 40 grounded through a power source part 41. The voltage is impressed on the conductive layer 26 of the transfer drum 11 by a power source part 32. And also, the voltage is impressed on the brush 40 by the power source part 41. The voltage whose polarity is the same as that of the voltage impressed on the conductive layer 26 of the transfer drum 11 and which is higher than the voltage impressed on the layer 26 is impressed on the brush 40. |
