[Also in Division F4] A device for incorporation in an hydraulic circuit between the control and output devices thereof comprises a sealed enclosure 4 connected by a pipe or pipes to the circuit and variable in volume by a diaphragm 3 axially movable by a screw against which the diaphram is urged by a spring 9. The device is particularly applicable for use in a circuit for controlling the orientation of the headlights of a self-propelled vehicle. If due to leakage of hydraulic fluid or to a change in temperature the headlights become incorrectly orientated, the circuit is compensated by screwing in or out the screw 8. An overall adjustment to provide "high" and "low" settings of the headlights is effected by pivoting a lever 13 from one extreme position to the other by means of a dashboard operated cable or rod 17. The screw 8 is threaded into a nut 6 which is capable of axial displacement or pins 7 to enable the screw to be axially displaced without being rotated. The cable 17 may be actuated automatically as a function of the relative displacements between the sprung and unsprung portions of the vehicle.</p> |
