摘要 A substance is encapsulated by dispersing it in a continuous phase, the dispersed and continuous phases each containing an intermediate which is reactive with the intermediate in the other phase to form a condensation polymer, polymerization thereby occurring at the phase interface to encapsulate the dispersed substance in a condensation polymer shell. The continuous phase may be a solid, liquid or gas or a combination thereof, specific reference being made to volatile and flammable liquids, inks, dyes, paints, adhesives, activated monomers and drugs. The polymer shells may be composed of polyamides, polyurethanes, polysulphonamides, polyesters and polyureas and the capsules may optionally be given an additional coating, e.g. of cellulose, polyethylene, polypropylene, polymethyl methacrylate or polymethacrylate applied in conventional manner, e.g. by coating in a fluidized bed. Additionally, the process of the invention may be adapted to produce composite capsules such as are shown in Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), which depict a double-walled capsule with a second layer of core material between the walls (Fig. 3) and a capsule comprising a number of smaller capsules together with a fluid contained within a larger capsule by repetition of the process with minor variations.ALSO:A substance is encapsulated by dispersing it in a continuous phase, the dispersed and continuous phases each containing an intermediate which is reactive with the intermediate in the other phase to form a condensation polymer, polymerization thereby occurring at the phase interface to encapsulate the dispersed substance in a condensation polymer shell. The polymer shells may be composed of polyamides, polyurethanes, polysulphonamides, polyesters and polyureas and the capsules may optionally be given and additional coating e.g. of cellulose, polyethylene, polypropylene, polymethyl methacrylate or polymethacrylate applied in conventional manner e.g. by coating in a fluidized bed. Additionally, the process of the invention may be adapted to produce composite capsules as in Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) which depict a double-walled capsule with a second layer of core material between the walls (Fig. 3) and a capsule comprising a number of smaller capsules together with a fluid contained within a larger capsule by repitition of the process with minor variations. In an example, a continuous bond sheet is coated with microcapsules composed of petroleum solvent contained with a polymer shell produced by the condensation polymerization of terephthalyl chloride and diethylenetriamine.
