Prodn. of a required contour of a workpiece (3), is claimed. The actual contour of at least of a part of the workpiece is measured and compared with the required contour. The workpiece is provided with an etchant resisting coating (7). This coating is removed in places (8) where the required contour is deeper than the actual contour, and workpiece material is removed by etching from these places.
