Industrial oven robotic charging assembly - incorporates laser scanner-detectors and warning assembly halting movement on detection of obstacle, permitting safe use of high travel speeds

An assembly (1) charges and empties an industrial oven as it passes along the front aspect of the oven, under programme control. The novelty is that the assembly (1) incorporates a laser-scanner (14) linked to a detector and warming assembly, which may halt further movement on detection of an obstacle. Pref. three or more laser-scanners (14) are fitted to the chassis (2), each of which scans a sector of from 60-360 [deg], and is positioned ca. 20 cm above the ground. The scan sectors are overlapping. Following a halt in response to an obstacle detected, motion is resumed after operation of a manual switch located close to the central zone of operation.
