An enzymatic treatment with a beta -glucanase is surprisingly effective in reducing the amount of spent tea leaves, and accordingly the invention provides a process for reducing the amount of spent tea leaves, comprising treating the spent tea leaves with a beta -glucanase, followed by separation of liquid.
