The piston chamber(3) of the actuating unit(2) is connected to the hydraulic accumulator(10) by hydraulic lines(6) through a safety valve block(5), directional proportional valve(7) and check valve(9) so that the volume of the piston chamber, during the descending stroke of the press slide(1), is transferred to the accumulator. The energy stored in the accumulator is directed through a release valve(16) to supply hydraulic user units(20) which operate at a lower hydraulic pressure than the actuating unit.
