The invention concerns a cleat for a conveyor belt, particularly for a vertical conveyor, with a cleat base (2) which attaches to the carrying side of the conveyor belt and can accommodate at least one anchoring element (5) and with a cleat section (1) which forms a transverse wall across the conveyor belt and is detachably fastened to the cleat base (2) using the anchoring element (5). To create a simpler attachment of the cleat section to the cleat base the invention provides that the anchoring element is a rod which is set in the cleat base transverse to the running direction (6) of the conveyor belt and which has threaded bores (12) which align with holes (3, 13) in the cleat base (2) and in the cleat section (1), through which screws (4) can be inserted to fasten the cleat section (1).
