A continuous method of making a flexible laminate comprises impregnating a lamina 6 of core material e.g. of paper, fabric or wood veneer with a thermosetting resin 12, e.g. a polyester resin, engaging the impregnated lamina between two sheets 37 and 371 of protective material e.g. sulphurized or greaseproof paper which can be separated easily from the core lamina and heating the resultant assembly e.g. by infra-red heaters 33 to cure the resin whilst passing the assembly between opposed flexible calender rolls 18 and 181. The impregnation is preferably effected by immersion in the tank 1. One of the calender rolls is preferably provided with two flexible edge strips which bear against the other roller to form packing strips determining the thickness of the laminate.
