发明名称 Facility for storing liquids at low temperatures
摘要 1,136,684. Storing liquefied gases. CONTINENTAL OIL CO. 6 March, 1967, No. 10503/67. Heading F4P. A storage for cold liquids (such as liquefied gases) comprises a cavity 10 in the earth having a trench 32 into which the bottom end of a partition 14 is inserted, the trench being filled with water which is frozen to form ice which seals the bottom end of the partition. The partitions 14 may form concentric cylinders defining concentric chambers 16, each of which may be filled with a liquid of lower boiling point than that of the surrounding chamber 16, e.g. from the centre outwards the liquefied gases could be helium, then methane, then ethane, then propane. The lid 18 may be integral with the walls 14 and may have a flange 20 dipping into a trough 22 containing water which is frozen either by the liquid in the chambers 16, or by an additional refrigeration plant. The walls 14 may include heat insulation to minimise heat losses within the structure.
