In a rack and tray assembly for electrical equipment each tray is connected to the rack wiring by means of a plurality of pairs of plugin connectors arranged transverse to the direction of insertion of the trays into the rack. A tray 1 loaded with electrical and/or electronic units is slid into a rack frame 2 on runners up to a stop. Brackets 4 carrying fixed plug-in connector parts are permanently connected and wired to the tray and when the trays are inserted up to the stop movable plug-in connector parts mounted on brackets 3 pivoted to the frame 2 are pivoted so that the plug-in connectors can be closed in succession and transversely to the direction of insertion of the tray. The plug connectors are mounted loosely on ball-ended pins and the socket connectors on bushes which coact to lock the tray to the frame. A tray cover, Fig. 3 (not shown), effects a mechanical locking of the plug-in units.
