Method for producing a support for olefin polymerization catalyst and process for polymerizing olefins

Prepn. of a support for catalysts used in the polymerisation of olefins comprises adding a silica source chosen from an aq. alkaline soln. of silica and an aq. alkaline inorganic soln. of silicate is added to an aq. soln. contg. phosphate ions having a pH of less than 5. The pH is kept below 5 whilst the addition takes place. An aluminium cpd. is added to the reaction medium formed. A precipitation agent is then added to the resulting reaction medium, this time ensuring that the pH is kept at a minium of 5. Also claimed is the polymerisation of olefins in the presence of a chrome catalyst deposited onto the above support.
