摘要 A textile machine component comprising a bearing which consists of a pressed and sintered powdered mixture comprising by weight 0-1.0% carbon, 0-7% nickel, 0-5% copper, 1.5-4.0% Al2O3 or 1.5-4.0% of a carbide of vanadium, tungsten, chromium, molybdenum or silicon, and the balance substantially all iron, whereby the bearing has a high resistance to fret and chatter wear. The preferred composition comprises a pressed and sintered mixture as follows: .Iron powder.93.75% .Nickel powder.3.5% .Carbon.0.75% .Al2O3.2.0% A spinning ring 20, Fig. 2 (not shown), a twisting ring 21, Fig. 3 (not shown), and a cam 15, Fig. 4 (not shown), are all made from the above preferred composition. In an embodiment, the nickel was carbonyl nickel, having particle sizes from 2.9-3.6 microns: the carbon was graphite, having particle sizes from 15-44 microns; the aluminium oxide was crystalline levigated alumina, having particle sizes of 3-6 microns; and the iron powder has particle sizes distributed as follows, percentages being by weight: .+80 mesh.0.35% .+100 mesh.2.15% .+140 mesh.17.43% .+200 mesh.32.71% .+325 mesh.24.95% .-325 mesh.22.41% The mixed materials are compressed in dies at 30-50 tons per square inch pressure at room temperature and the briquettes are sintered for one-half to one hour at a temperature between 2000-2150 DEG F. The atmosphere was an endothermic natural gas having a dew-point of 30 DEG F. and comprised by volume: .CO.20.7% .H2.38.8% .CH4.0.4% .N2.40.1% The sintered components were then coined in dies, preferably to the final size and may be carburized.
