Jet engine thrust reverser with a single door

The thrust reverser consists of a fixed front section (10) with a shaped rear edge (14) which is not perpendicular to the engine's geometrical axis, and a single hinged shell (16) which can turn about two side pivots (22). When in the closed position the hinged shell forms the rear section of the engine's exhaust duct while when deployed with the aid of at least one power cylinder it acts as an obstacle to the exhaust gas flow and reverses the engine thrust. A seal between the hinged shell and fixed front section passes to the rear of the shell's pivots and is situated parallel to the fixed section's rear edge, while the edge is situated in a plane set at a predetermined angle to the engine's geometrical axis.
