Apparatus for cooking, particularly frying, a plurality of items of food has a vessel (2) for containing hot liquid in which the food is to be cooked. A rotary support member (16) is partially contained in the vessel (2), extends above the latter, and has a number of retaining members (18), each arranged to retain a respective item of food thereon. The retaining members (18) are mounted at angularly spaced intervals on the rotary member (16) which is rotated by suitable means (24, 26, 30) so as to immerse each retaining member (18) in the liquid for sufficient time to cook the respective item of food thereon, and then to extract the retaining member from the liquid. Some of the retaining members are positioned above the liquid while others are immersed, when the rotary member (16) is in at least one angular position, so that items of food to be cooked can be placed on retaining means and/or previously cooked items removed while other items are being cooked. |
