When activated the security system introduces a liquid 1 into the hot exhaust gasses of an internal combustion engine for the purpose of making a vapour appear out of the exhaust outlet. The object of this is, when a colouring agent has been introduced into the liquid, to attract attention to the vapour, and so indicating unauthorised running of the motor. This procedure could then be followed by the activating of an engine immobiliser in order to prevent the engine's use, if so desired. It could also be possible to vary the amount of liquid that is introduced. This would allow the coloured vapours emitted from the exhaust to be used as a panic alarm, or a smoke screen, should the need arise.
