<p>The vehicle floor consists of a series of non-metal panels (P), e.g. measuring 2.5 m long x 1.5 m wide and 40 mm thick, made with recesses (2) in the undersides of adjoining edges (4,5) to receive metal fixing strips (6) which are joined to both panels by screws (7) inserted from below. The recesses for the fixing strips run the whole length of each panel, which is made from a hardwood plywood, e.g. of beech. The floor is designed to be self-supporting, and after installation in the vehicle the metal strips are fixed to horizontal surfaces of lengthwise chassis members, e.g. by welding.</p> |
